Every school might have a different process for nominating students to Girls State. Even if your school nominates and sponsors a certain amount of students, we encourage any student interested to apply for the program.
If you are a guidance counselor or school staff member please reach out to Director Audrey Grant at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also have a mailing list where we send quarterly emails about Girls State, which you can sign up for here.
Schools are not obligated to sponsor students. Local American Legion Auxiliary units will process applications, and may sponsor students. The cost to sponsor a student is $400. Students will then be expected to provide a $100 room deposit (returned or shredded at the end of the week) and $30 to cover polos and water bottles. If there are students who are unable to pay the $30, please let us know. We never turn away students for lack of funds.
